Saint Dismas is known as the patron saint of second chances, prisoners, criminals, reformed thieves, persons on death row, and people who have made mistakes and seek forgiveness.
According to Christian teaching, St. Dismas was one of the two thieves crucified with Jesus. St. Dismas rebuked the other thief and asked Jesus to forgive him. “Jesus, remember me when I come into your kingdom.” Jesus expressed mercy and told Dismas, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” St. Dismas accepted his guilt and received a second chance.
St. Dismas’ feast day is March 25th.
Dismas House believes in second chances.
